Abstract

111,146. Kjellman, R. H. Nov. 13, 1916. Machine guns.-Relates to trigger mechanism for automatic guns adjustable for single shot or for continuous firing. According to the invention, the trigger and sear are connected by a two-armed lever which is adjustable into two positions, or which has on it a part adjustable into two positions, in one of which the lever slips off the trigger arm while in the other it is held depressed. In the construction shown in Figs. 2 and 4, the intermediate two-armed lever 11, 12 has on it a slide 18 which can be adjusted by a lug 20 on a spindle 18 actuated by an external lever. In the raised position of the slide 18, shown in Fig. 2, the end of the arm 11 of the lever is engaged by a pawl 8 on the trigger, and when the trigger is pulled, the pawl slips off the arm 11 and allows the sear to re-engage for single shot firing. When the slide is pushed down, as shown in Fig. 4, the pawl 8 its pushed off the end of the arm 11 and the back of the slide is engaged by a fixed part 5<a> of the trigger arm, the lever 11, 12 being depressed as long as the trigger is pulled. In a modification shown in Figs. 12 and 13, the lever 11, 12 is adjusted as a whole by means of an eccentric 13, 22. Fig. 12 shows the position for single-shot firing, and Fig. 13 for continuous firing.
