1,110,732. Mould closure apparatus. R. J. NAULT. 25 Jan., 1966, No. 3292/66. Heading B5A. Mould closing apparatus for a blow-moulding machine comprises a frame (10, 12, 32, Fig. 1), a pair of tie rods (13, 14) which slide in the frame, a push bar (16) fixed to and between the tie rods, a platen (22) fixed on and movable with the tie rods, another platen (18) slidably mounted thereon, the platens carrying the mould halves, power means (e.g. hydraulic cylinder, 26) to move the platens together and motion equalizing means comprising an idle pulley (46), having a flexible member (e.g. chain 40) trained over it, fixed to push bar (16) at one end and to platen (18) at the other by means of bar (52). Hydraulic piston (26) is operated to move platen (18) and push bar (16) apart. This will move platen (22) towards platen (18) since platen (22) is fixed to the tie rods (13, 14) to which push-bar (16) is also fixed. The platens will move together an equal amount due to the " equalizing means ".
