Abstract

1,109,377. Metalclad switchgear structures. SIEMENS A.G. 16 Dec., 1966 [22 Dec., 1965], No. 56561/66. Heading H1N. The bus-bars 4, 5, 6 of a metalclad switchgear are disposed in a metal tube 1 provided at intervals with branch tubes 7 for branch conductors leading to isolators, circuit-breakers, transformers &c., the bus-bars being supported at intervals by groups of three-pin type insulators 10, 11, 12 lying in a plane perpendicular to the bus-bars and extending generally parallel to the axis of an adjacent branch tube 7. In one form one insulator 10 lies along the axis of the branch tube while the other two are slightly inclined to it and placed on either side of the branch tube; the insulators 10, 11, 12 are supported on iron plates 25 and angle-irons 26, 27, respectively, which are welded to the tube 1 and serve to strengthen it. The bus-bars are gripped by two-part clamps (18) carried by the insulators; similar clamps 19 connect the busbars to branch conductors 20, 21, 22 to which connections are made to the switchgear. The tubes are filled with SF 6 at two atmospheres pressure. The insulators are of cast resin.
