Abstract

1,107,721. Bearings. MACHINE TOOL INDUSTRY RESEARCH ASSOCIATION. 14 Dec., 1964 [18 Dec., 1963], No. 50089/63. Heading F2A. In a fluid bearing fluid is introduced between bearing surfaces and retained by means sealing against at least one of said bearing surfaces, the flow of fluid from the bearing being controlled. In Fig. 1, seal 12 is secured to member 11 and seals against member 10. Valves 14a, 15a are provided in the inlet passage 14 and outlet passage 15. In Fig. 3 (not shown), floating seal (16) has its movement limited by projection (17) on member 11, and seals against both members. The bearing surfaces are plane, cylindrical on part-spherical. Inflow valves only or outflow valves only may be provided.
