Abstract

1,106,624. Milking claws. F. G. FAIRBAIRN. 21 June, 1966 [22 March, 1965], No, 119.55/65. Heading A1M. A milk claw comprises two chambers 2, 3 connected by four passages 11 extending at right angles to the four milk inlet bores 10 which are connected to the teat cups, a valve 12 being located in each bore 10 and rotatable so that passage 21 in the valve communicates with either of the chambers 2, 3 whereby milk from a particular teat cup can be separated from that from the remaining teat cups. The valves are rotated by means of the milk inlet spigots 20 which are provided with a ratchet-like construction engaging with a similar construction 19 on the valve to permit clockwise rotation of the valve. Anti-clockwise rotation of the valve is prevented by co-operating ratchet constructions 17, 18 on the other end of the valve and in bore 10 respectively. The chambers 2, 3 have covers 4, 5 with integral outlet pipes 6, 7. The claw is also provided with connections to a pulsator.
