Abstract

1,104,836. Nuts. UNITED-CARR Inc. 8 Dec., 1966 [10 Dec., 1965], No. 54947/66. Heading F2H. A sheet-metal nut comprises a flat base 1 with a thread-engaging frusto-conical boss 4, having a helical edge 6 and a radial slot, on one side, and nail-like prongs extending from the opposite side. In use, the nut is hammered into one side of a support (12), Fig. 3, not shown, in line with a through bore (15), and one end of a double-ended screw is passed through the bore from the opposite side to engage the nut.
