Abstract

1,102,993. Belt fasteners. HAYDEN-NILOS Ltd. 2 Feb., 1967 [4 Feb., 1966], No. 4973/66. Heading F2Q. A conveyer belt fastener comprises U-shaped elements 12 formed from wire rope, the limbs 13 being secured to the belt by two pairs of plate anchorages 16, one pair being located near the end of the belt and the other pair being spaced appreciably from the end. Each plate anchorage 16 spans a multiplicity of limbs 13 which are secured in grooves 17 in the plate 16 by brazing, welding, or crimping. The plate anchorages 16 are secured to the belt by U- shaped hooks 19. In a modification, a continuous length of wire rope 21 is secured to a belt by small plate anchorages 24, 27, Fig. 3. Wire hooks may span the gaps between adjacent plate anchorages 27. In another modification, each fastener comprises a U-shaped plate 31 having wire rope extensions 38 welded to it and it is secured to the belt by a small plate anchorage 39 and wire hooks 35, 36. Two wire rope extensions 40 may be secured to each limb of each U-shaped plate 31, as shown in Fig. 9.
