Abstract

1,101,631. Reciprocating pumps. DOWTY MINING EQUIPMENT Ltd. April 28, 1965 [Feb. 4, 1964], No.4718/64. Heading F1A. In a reciprocating pump comprising a rotary cylinder block 13, non-return inlet valves 27 connect the cylinders 14 to the interior of the casing 14 which is supplied with liquid to be pumped and non-return delivery valves 31 connect the cylinders to a rotary delivery connection 32, 34, 35. The manifold plate 23 is secured to the cylinder block 13 and the bore 35 of the spigot 32 communicates with passages in a birfurcated bracket 36 secured to the base 12 of a yoke 11 mounted for angular adjustment about trunnions (8), Fig. 3 (not shown), in the pump casing. A swivel member 37 fitted in the bracket 36 has a hollow rod 39 provided with an annular piston (47), Fig. 4 (not shown), mounted in a cylinder (41) secured to the pump casing. The cylinder (41) is mounted for angular movement on a hollow pin (43) the bore (45) of which communicates with the bore of the rod (39) and forms the pump outlet. The pressure in the pump outlet acts on the piston (47) in opposition to a spring (48) to tilt the pump head and reduce the stroke of the pump pistons. The drive flange 4 and manifold plate 23 are mounted within the casing 1 and manifold plate 23 by hydrodynamic bearings 5, 6 and 29 and thrust pads 25 and 26.
