Abstract

1,100,804. Masted lift trucks. MATBRO Ltd. 13 April, 1966 [22 April, 1965], No. 17123/65. Heading B8H. The mast of a lift truck is pivotally mounted about a horizontal axis on a support 14 which is pivotally supported about a vertical axis at one end on one of a pair of forwardly extending frame members 6 of the truck and which, at the other end, is provided with rollers 22, 23, or slides, engaging the bottom and top surfaces of an arcuate track 8. The support 14 is rotated by a rotary hydraulic motor 19. The fixed mast section is tiltably mounted in bosses 24, secured to the support 14, and extends down to substantially ground level. The centre pivot (28), Fig. 4 (not shown), of a toggle linkage (31, 29) extending between the support 14 and a point (30) adjacent the lower end of the fixed mast section is connected to the piston-rod of an hydraulic ram (27) pivotally mounted on the support 14 whereby extension or retraction of the ram causes the mast to tilt rearwardly or forwardly. The front wheels of the truck are driven by rotary hydraulic motors mounted on the frame members 6. In a modification (not shown), the rotary hydraulic motor 19 is omitted and the support 14 is provided with a motor driving a pinion which engages an arcuate rack.
