Abstract

1,099,708. Overhead travelling cranes. KERMA CORPORATION. Feb. 9, 1966 [Feb. 23, 1965; July 21, 1965], No. 5766/66. Heading B8B. [Also in Division F4] An overhead crane, including a trolley M movable on a trackway, designed for charging furnaces with scrap and liquid metal, comprises a main load grab R connected by cables 27 and (28) to hoist mechanism N, a grab 24 connected by cable 23 to hoist mechanism P for tilting the load when it is elevated, and members 40, 41 depending from the trolley having guideways which receive portions of the grab R during elevation thereof, thus preventing lateral movement of the load during transportation and tilting thereof. The load may be a trough S or a ladle H. Different methods of mounting the trough S and the grab R are described.
