Abstract

1,091,709. Roller conveyers. WESTING- HOUSE BRAKE & SIGNAL CO. Ltd. June 16, 1966 [March 8, 1966], No. 10055/66. Heading B8A. [Also in Divisions E2 and F2] A mounting for a conveyer roller 20 comprises a pedestal formed of rigid P.V.C. and provided with " snap-fasteners " 4 which snap into holes 10 formed in a structural member 8. A bore 2 accommodates the spindle 22 of the roller, but a bush 11 for receiving a spindle of reduced diameter may be inserted in the bore 2. In assembly, the spindle 22 is passed through each of a pair of roller bearings 21 and a pedestal 1 is then slid on to each end of the spindle. In Fig. 2 (not shown), the pedestal bore (2) is elongated so that the spindle (22) is vertically movable but is biased upwardly by a double hair-pin spring (26). A pedestal for a conveyer wheel (35, Fig. 3, not shown) has upwardly extending recesses (32) into which can be " snapped " the ends (33) of a spindle (34) on which the wheel (35) rotates.
