Systems for continuous-current motors only. - In a system of control, the resistance sections R, R', R<2> are cut out or in by means of a controller MC carrying the main current and acting in conjunction with series contactors A, B, C. When the controller is in position 1, the circuit of the motor includes all the resistance and the coil of the contactor A. When the current drops to the predetermined value. the contactor A closes and the short circuit across the resistance R is completed by the contactor contacts if the controller is moved forward before the contactor closes, or bv the contacts T, U of the controller if the contactor closes before the controller is moved. The contactors B, C operate in the same way as the contactor A. When the controller is moved one step backward from any position, the short circuit across the corresponding resistance step is broken at the controller contacts. Extra sections of resistance may be added, and these may be connected directly to the controller fingers and the controller moved notch by notch, or they may be controller by series contactors which close automatically after the contactor C has closed.
