Systems for continuous-current motors only.- In a system of control for electric motors, a reversing-controller is associated with electro-responsive switches having shunt windings connected on one side to the supply circuit and on the other to an intermediate point of the series resistance. The shunt windings are ineffective until the whole of the series resistance has been cut out. The controller 2 is provided with contacts 10 to close a dynamic braking-circuit in its zero position, and with contacts 11<a>, 11<b>, 12 for reversing the connexions of the motor armature. The starting-contactors 3, 4, 5 have series operating and lock-out windings 7, 8 and are operated automatically to short-circuit the resistances r, r<1>, r<2>. The contactor 5 which short-circuits all the windings 7, 8 is held closed by a. shunt winding 9, and a further increase in speed is obtained by the switch 6 rising to insert the resistance r<3> in the shunt field circuit. The winding of the switch 6 and the winding 9 of the contactor 5 are connected in parallel between the main Land the middle of the resistance r<1> across the armature a. This connexion prevents these windings from being active to cause premature closure of the switches during reversal.
