Abstract

1,089,969. Magnetic switches. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Aug. 18, 1966 [Oct. 4, 1965], No. 41999/65. Heading H2B. A switch which may be operated by a movable magnetic member has its magnetic contact unit 6 offset from the main pole faces 4 of the permanent magnet 1, and is normally influenced by " fringing flux " which is weakened when a member such as a wheel flange 18 passes in front of the pole faces 4. The sealed magnetic reed contact unit 6 is retained below a step 5 in the non-magnetic casing 3 by a clip 7 acting on a resilient pad 8. The contact unit 6, clip 7, pad 8 and a terminal mounting strap 11 are encapsulated in a body of cast resin. The permanent magnet 1 is mounted on an adjustable bridge 2 and mounting screws 20, 23, 24 for the housing 3 and support plate 21 pass through elongate holes to permit further adjustment.
