Abstract

1,182,692. Magnetic switches, electrically released switches. FUCHS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES (PROPRIETARY) Ltd. 25 May, 1967 [27 May, 1966], No. 24293/67. Heading H1N. A holding magnet which may be released to trip a circuit-breaker or operate a microswitch has a magnetic circuit including a permanent magnet 5 forming the base of a U-shape with two arms 10 and the web 11 between the arms acting as a shunt for the permanent magnet. Member 13, 14 introduce gaps in the magnetic circuit which is completed by a rockable armature 7 biased by an adjustable spring 19. The release coil may be energized by earth leakage current to oppose the permanent magnet flux and permit the armature to move to the position shown. Resetting may be effected by energization of a coil 25 to assist the permanent magnet or mechanically. The permanent magnet bias may be set by rotation of the magnet.
