Abstract

1,086,935. Testing mouthpiece cigarettes. MOLINS ORGANISATION Ltd. May 8, 1964 [May 20, 1963], No. 20053/63. Heading A2C. Cigarettes having the mouthpiece portions joined to the cigarette portions by encircling bands adhesively secured are tested by supporting the mouthpieces between a pair of driven grooved belts 2 which grip the mouthpieces and by gripping the cigarette portions between grooved belts 3 the grooved drive rollers 4, 5 of which are set at an angle to the axes of the cigarettes to cause separation of faultily attached cigarette portions from the mouthpieces. Alternatively the belts may be interchanged so that the mouthpieces which are faultily attached are separated from the cigarette portions. The cigarettes are centrally supported by a grooved belt 16 driven by a helically grooved roller extending from the two lower rollers 5. A rejecting device comprises two narrow conveyer bands receiving the cigarettes between them the bands being slightly shorter than the length of the cigarettes.
