Abstract

1,086,463. Control of D.C. motors. YALE & TOWNE G.m.b.H. Feb. 5, 1965 [Feb. 5, 1964], No. 5200/65. Heading H2J. Traction motor 14 is connected to one battery 17 or 18 for low-speed operation, and then to both batteries for high-speed operation, each battery being connected alternately to the motor for energization at low speed. Pedal 20 successively actuates switches 27, 32 associated with contactors 31, 29, which are each coordinated with one of the batteries, a changeover switch 48 reversing the order of operation of the contactors at each repeated actuation of the pedal. Rectifiers 30, 36 prevent interruption of current when contactors 29, 31 are changed over. A pump motor 15 is controlled in a similar manner, by means of lever 21 having switch 22 for high-speed operation. It is also arranged to measure the acid density of the batteries, depending on the state of charge, and to actuate switches where a predetermined difference in the density is exceeded. Only the battery which is less discharged is connected to the motor for low-speed operation until the difference in density has again dropped below the predetermined value.
