Abstract
An -NCO terminated polysulphide polymer is prepared by reacting a polymer of formula HO-R1SS(R11SS)nR1OH or a slightly cross-linked modification of such a polymer, where R1 and R11 are aliphatic radicals the carbon chains of which may be interrupted by O atoms or carbonyl groups and n is an integer from 1-100, and having a M.W. of 500-9000, with a conventional organic polyisocyanate of formula (R(NCO)x where R is an alkylene or arylene radical and x has an integral value of at least 2, said polymer and said polyisocyanate being used in amounts to provide an NCO/OH ratio greater than 1. The polymers may be cured in the atmosphere by including catalysts, e.g. FeCl3 or K3PO4 or HCO2K.
