Heading B8C: Stacks of profiled rolled steel products, e.g. angles and channels are formed by inverting one layer of the products over a second layer so that the two layers .are interfitted and depositing the double layer on a stacking table. The products are fed longitudinally along a conveyer 1 to a conveyer 2 and then to a faster moving inclined conveyer 3. A counting device 4 above this conveyer counts the products and causes their feed from the conveyer 2 to be interrupted intermittently so that counted, spaced groups are fed on to a more slowly moving conveyer 5. The groups are then fed by a conveyer' 6 over two magnetic inverter devices 7, 9. A reciprocating stop 8 allows the first group 16 to pass to the inverter 9 and holds back the second group 15 on the inverter 7, which is then rotated to deposit its group 15 on to the group 16, the inverter 9 being subsequently rotated to deposit the double layer on to a stack 10 on a table 11. The table 11 is gradually lowered until it deposits its load on to a conveyer 12, which carries the stack 10 through a bundling machine 13 and weighing machine 14 (not detailed). In order that the lowest and every alternate layer 15 has an odd number of products, while the second and every, alternate layer 16 has an even number, the counting device 4 automatically increases and decreases the number in each group by one.
