An adjustable fastening device comprises a flexible track Slider 6 and a movable therealong, the slider having a U-shaped body within which the track is located with the base of the U extending completely across the track on one side thereof, the slider having releasable locking. means movably mounted on the legs of the U and movable towards and away from the base respectively for engaging and disengaging a surface, of the track opposite the one side thereof, whereby in a locking position of the locking means the track is gripped between the locking means and the base of the slider. As shown, the flexible track 1 is secured at longitudinally spaced-apart regions of a waistband 19, of a pair of trousers and extends through the slider 6 having a pull member 12 pivoted thereto and including a prong portion 14 which is adapted to grip the track 1 between the prong and the base of the slider. A belt is connected to the slider through an eye member 17 which is engaged over a pair of hooks 16 formed on the slider. In another arrangement, Fig. 8 (not shown), the track is recessed along its length and is attached to the waist band by longitudinally spaced shoulders. The track may be of composite construction formed by a base strip 2 of plastics material bonded, to a fabric covering 3. A bearing plate may be interposed between the prong and the fabric.
