Abstract

1,084,568. Knitting-machines. WILLIAM COTTON Ltd. Aug. 24, 1966 [Sept. 4, 1965], No. 37897/65. Heading D1C. A cam operated arm 6 having a yarn controlling member 1 for deflecting a yarn extending between a supply and the needles of a straight-bar machine to thereby provide surplus yarn at the end of each carrier draw, also carries a yarn tensioning arm 16 which is pivotally mounted on the arm 6 and resiliently engages the yarn under the influence of a spring so when the arm 6 is deflected by its cam to provide a light tension on the yarn to compensate for tension fluctuations in the yarn which occur during needle manipulation or fashioning.
