Abstract

1,078,082. Boots &c. QUIMET STAY & LEATHER CO. Dec. 2, 1965, No. 51174/65. Heading A3B. A sewing rib strip for attachment to an insole consists of plies of tape adhered together and arranged so that the strip has two attachment flanges 24 and 31, each having two plies, and a rib which tapers in thickness, having four plies at its base portion 29 and a lesser number of plies at its upper edge 20 as shown. When attached to an insole the rib lies at an angle of not more than 10 degrees to the upper surface of the insole and after attachment of an upper and a welt the rib is laid flat on to the insole. The strip may be made from a single piece of tape folded to the desired configuration or from two or more tapes adhered together. The completed strip is adhered to the marginal edge of an insole and may additionally be secured by stitching D and is suitable for use in Goodyear welted shoes.
