Abstract

In pneumatic apparatus for collecting fluff, dust and wild ends from a winding machine, a suction duct extending over the length of the machine is closed along its upper surface by overlapping abutting resilient flaps which in air-tight manner surround and abut the edges of a suction nozzle passing therethrough. The nozzle, which is connected to a L-shaped tube with an outwardly flared end opening adjacent the cheeses and/or tensioning devices, is mounted on a cable-operated carriage whereby it continuously traverses the machine to collect fluff &c. on one side and then the other thereof. The suction in the duct maintains the flaps in contact with each other and the nozzle separates them during its traverse, the flaps closing again automatically behind the nozzle.
