1,077,341. Positioning apparatus. SOC. NATIONALE D'EDITIONS ARTISTIQUES - N. E. A. Jan. 8, 1965 [Jan. 9, 1964], No.1025/65. Heading G1M. In apparatus for checking the position of a sheet 1 on a cylinder 2, there is provided a structure 4 extending parallel to the cylinder axis A, sighting devices 12, 14 supported on the structure adapted to sight marks 13, 15 on the cylinder and sheet, respectively, screws means 24-26 and clamping means 17-23 for varying the angular and axial positions of the cylinder, respectively, and a pulley system 5-7 for raising and lowering the structure 4. A counterweight 9 is provided to balance the weight of the structure 4. In operation, the structure 4 is raised and the carriage 3 bearing cylinder 2 and sheets 1 is moved to a position below the structure 4. The structure 4 is then lowered until its V-shaped bridge pieces 10 straddle the cylinder 2. The positions of the marks 13 and 15 are then sighted by the devices 12 and 14 and the errors in the sheet positions detected. The apparatus is applicable to devices for etching cylinders.
