Abstract

1,073,096. Devices for gripping and lifting rods. W. & E. MOORE Ltd. March 1, 1966 [May 5, 1965], No. 18920/65. Heading B8H. To lift a load W, a bar 6 attached thereto is inserted through aligned holes 11 in the arms A, B of a lifting device and a pull is exerted on a ring 4. This causes the arms to pivot about a pin 1 and grip the bar. The arms comprise flat plates 7, 8 with vertical stiffeners 9, 10. Shackles are pivoted to the ends of the arms. A compression spring may be inserted between the arms to urge them about and ensure an initial grip.
