Abstract

Tubular warp knitted fabric is produced on a twin bed raschel type knitting machine the stitch quality being varied in certain parts of the stocking so that the stocking will have an approximately constant amount of widthwise stretch throughout its length. The quality may be varied by varying the positive yarn feed or by varying the fabric take up or by varying both together.
