Abstract

1,072,699. Hydraulic props. K. GERLACH. Aug. 4, 1964 [July 20, 1963], No. 30639/64, Heading E1E. A pit-prop comprising a piston-and-cylinder assembly 1, 2 has a seal 3 on the piston 1 between the parts 1, 2 which has an adherent heat-resistant covering, e.g. an adherent plate 9. To the central portion of the piston crown 5 is so adhered as to leave an air gap between the edge portions 4 and the plate 9 replaceable by a sprayed-on coating. The piston 1 carries an annular scraper 8 thereon. An axial jet of fluid is injected through a port 10 into the cylinder 2, at the top of which is a resilient screening ring to prevent the entry of dirt.
