Abstract
1,071,723. Encapsulating spacing links. HAYDEN-NILOS Ltd. March 14, 1966 [March 16, 1965], No. 10995/65. Heading B5A. [Also in Division F2] A method of forming a spacing link, comprising a metal link body encased in a resilient material such as natural or synthetic rubber, e.g. Neoprene, for a belt fastening (see Division F2) consists of locating the link body in a mould cavity sufficiently larger than the body to provide for the required thickness of resilient material at the sides, ends, and top and bottom of the body, inserting parallel core rods from side to side of the cavity to engage the link body to form holes adapted to receive flexible hinge elements, and hot-moulding the resilient material so that it flows completely round the body. Several spacing links, joined by transverse fins of the resilient material, may be formed as a unit.
