[Also in Division F2] A device for preventing release of one or more clamping means comprises a tube having a longitudinal slot for receiving an element of the or each clamping means, the tube being arranged to prevent release of the clamping means when the or each element is received in the slot, and a locking means arranged to co-operate with the tube to lock the or each element in the slot. In the embodiment shown the device comprises a tube 1 adapted to receive the heads of e.g. wing nuts clamping an outboard motor to the transom of a boat. The tube has an open end A, a closed end B and a longitudinal slot 3 extending from the open end to a point spaced from the closed end and of a size to receive the shanks of the wing nuts. In use the tube is slid over the heads of the wing nuts whose shanks pass through the slot 3 and the open end A is closed by a cylinder lock having a projecting arm which engages in a circumferential groove 7 in the inside wall of the tube. In a second embodiment the tube includes an aperture at its open end which receives the hasp of a padlock or a pin which is secured by a padlock. In a further embodiment the tube is closed at both ends and includes a shutter movable to alter the effective width of the slot. In one position of the shutter nuts or screw heads of the clamping means can pass into the tube, the shutter restricting the width of the slot in another position, in which it is lockable by the locking means, to prevent removal of the nuts or heads. In any embodiment a key operated locking means may be replaced by a combination lock.
