Abstract

A ratchet operated take-up motion and a let-off motion driven by an infinitely variable belt drive to maintain constant warp tension (as Fig. 8 of Specification 975,402) has provision to disconnect the take-up and let-off motions whilst the loom continues working to weave terry fabric or fabric showing weft bars. The motions may be disconnected by cables (104), (90) from a dobby or manually by depressing a pedal.
