872,006. Shuttleless looms; forming selvedges. WEAVING RESEARCH & TEXTILE COMMISSION AGENTS Ltd. Sept. 17, 1959 [Oct. 9, 1958], No. 32302/58. Classes 142(2) and 142(4) In a loom having two weft inserting needles m, n, moving through the warp simultaneously in close succession to lay loops of weft drawn from opposite sides of the loom, the shed being changed in a wave-like manner at the gap between the needles, selvedges are formed at both edges of the fabric by tightening the bights d of weft inserted from that edge around the loops c inserted from the other edge, thereby forming constrictions near the ends of the loops c. As the needle n emerges from the left-hand edge of the fabric, a rearwardlyinclined deflector f rises to keep the weft p forward of a pin i; as the needle m emerges, the pin i rises so that the weft r is wrapped round it as the needle m returns to the right. As the needle n moves into the shed, its weft p rides over the deflector f and drops to the right of the pin i. The pin i and the deflector f, which are operated by separate cams, then descend, the loop of weft r being cast off the pin.
