Abstract

A carbonator comprises a stainless steel tank wound externally with a cooling coil, and a water coil and at least one (as described, four) syrup coil(s) on top of the cooling coil, the whole being enclosed in a unitary body of polyurethane foam. The cooled water is sprayed into the CO2 atmosphere in the tank and CO2 is also bubbled through the water in the tank, and is used to pressurize the syrup supply tanks to discharge them. A control valve enables plain or carbonated water to be dispensed alone or mixed with a selected syrup.
