Abstract
1,057,642. Drainage pipes. A.GOHLERT. Feb. 19, 1964 [Feb. 20, 1963; April 10, 1963], No. 7013/64. Heading F2P. [Also in Division E1] Foundations for buildings or embankments are drained and ventilated by passages 106 through porous blocks 103 and a channel 109 in a non-porous base 107. The blocks form a wall buried beside the foundation &c. 100. The top of the passages 106 are covered with porous blocks 108 having horizontal passages 110 and which are exposed to the air. Porous blocks 108 with suitable passages 110 may be arranged between the blocks 103 and the channel 107. This installation, which is of concrete, may be completely buried in which case the top blocks 108 have a pointed arch shape to withstand the weight of earth. In a modification a porous channel is inverted on a non-porous channel, Fig. 7 (not shown). In further modifications, Figs. 8 and 9 (not shown), one or two superposed rows of blocks are interposed between the base channel 107 and the blocks 103 and provide a passage for water and air past their edges or through notches in their corners.
