[Also in Division F2] A device for clamping telescopic tubes against relative axial movement comprises a hollow clamping member 4 for clamping the end portion of an inner tube 1 into a portion of an outer tube 7, the member 4 having a flange portion 6 projecting over the open end of the inner tube, the portion 6 being arranged to be struck by a smaller diameter tube 10 slidable within the tube 1 for releasing the tubes from the clamped position. As described the member 4 is a sleeve having a wedge-shaped slot 3 with a reduced width extension 5, and is expanded by a wedgeshaped outward projection 2 on the outside of the tube 1 which engages in the slot 3.
