Abstract

1,055,877. Vehicle wheels. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. Oct. 30, 1963 [Nov. 7, 1962], No. 42016/62. Heading B7C. A vehicle wheel comprising a disc portion 11 and a rim 14, the disc portion 11 and a first part of the rim 14 being formed together as a unitary structure with a smooth outer profile in the region of junction of the two portions, is provided with a circumferentially extending gutter 20 in the region of junction, the-gutter being wholly recessed radially within the said outer profile and being bounded on its axially outer side by a circumferentially extending shoulder 21 buttressed by the radially outer peripheral part of the disc portion 11, a second rim part 22 being joined to the first rim part by welding 24. The gutter accommodates a split locking ring 25 which holds a bead-retaining flange 26 in position. The disc 11 comprises a central radially extending portion 12 and radially outwardly thereof a frusto-conical portion 13 joined to the rim, the portion 13 being apertured to reduce the weight of the wheel and increase ventilation.
