Abstract

1 - Bromo - 1,1 - difluoro - ethane is prepared by vapour phase bromination at 350-500 DEG C. of 1,1-difluoroethane followed by cooling the reaction products to below 40 DEG C., removing HBr and unreacted bromine and finally separating the required compound.
