Abstract

1,044,909. Cranes. RUSTON-BUCYRUS Ltd. Sept. 24, 1963 [Sept. 28, 1962], No. 37522/63. Heading B8B. [Also in Division E1] A crane or excavator is made in two parts 21 and 22 such that the part 22 may without difficulty be raised from the part 21 for repair purposes. To this end part 22 carries motor 25 on platform 24 and its drive is transmitted by gears 29 and 31 carried by the platform. Slewing device, Fig. 5 (not shown). The motor drives gear 29 via shaft 51 and gear 29 engages a ring gear 30 secured to base 80 to slew the platform 24. Additionally, the motor drives gear 31 via shaft 26a, and gear 31 drives gear 32 which drives the crawler gear 40 via shaft 33, clutches 36 and 37 and gears 38. Clutches 36, 37 and brakes 36c and 37c are effected hydraulically. Shaft 26a is carried in sleeve 26 which passes through aperture 70 formed in lower frame 80 so that the top part of the crane including gears 29 and 31 can be removed vertically from the frame 80. Additionally, bearings 52 are enclosed by ring 28 carried by bolts 50 from platform 24 so that when the bolts 50 are removed the top and bottom parts of the crane are ready for separation. Shaft 26a is made hollow so that fluid may be introduced to distributer 62 which distributes the fluid to the brakes and clutches. Distributer 62 is releasably secured by bolt 64 so that when the bolt is released the shaft 26a is free to be separated vertically from distributer 62 and frame 80.
