Abstract

An alloy which is resistant to attack by molten glass has the following percentage composition:- .Cr.33-37 .W.3-3.5 .Fe.2-10 .Ta and/or Nb.1-3 .C.0.1-0.35 .Mo.3-3.5 .Ni.the balance The alloy may also contain Si up to 5, Mn up to 5 and one or more of B, V, Al or Ti up to 1 in total. It is particularly suitable for the formation of spinners for glass fibre.ALSO:An alloy which is resistant to attack by molten glass has the following percentage composition, by weight: .Cr.33-37 .W.3-3.5 .Fe.2-10 .Ta and/or Nb.1-3 .C.0.1-0.35 .Mo.3-3.5 .Ni.the balance The alloy may also contain Si up to 5, Mn up to 5 and one or more of B, V, Al or Ti up to 1 in total. It is particularly suitable for the formation of spinners for glass fibre.
