Abstract
1,039,016. Riding saddles. GEORGE SHELDON (WALSALL) Ltd. July 27, 1965 [July 29, 1964], No. 30105/64. Heading A1M. A riding saddle has a seat portion 11 secured to skirt portions 12 by engaging adjacent edges of the skirt and seat in channels 13 secured to or incorporated in the frame 10 of the saddle, the edges being locked in the channels by inserting a filling piece 14 between them. The edges of the skirt and seat are thickened e.g. by securing strips of leather or plastics material 17 to the undersides or by doubling the edges over. The channels may comprise a number of elements individually secured to the frame by nails or rivets 16 or the elements may be housed in an elongated channel member secured to the frame. Foam rubber or the like may be fitted over the side of each channel element and into the recess. The usual webbing stretched across the frame may be replaced by a moulded plastics member in which the channels are moulded or machined.
