Abstract

1,218,826. Jib cranes. H. LIEBHERR. 8 March, 1968, No. 11546/68. Heading B8B. A mobile crane comprises a mast 6 pivotally mounted on a rotary platform 3 whereby it can tilt to thereby act as a jib or can be positioned vertically to act as a tower, and a main jib 13 pivotally connected to the mast for use when the latter is used as a tower, the jib lying on the opposite side of the mast from the side thereof which faces the ground when the mast is being used as a jib, and a hook being provided on the last mentioned side of the mast. A counterweight 24 is selectively slidably carried at either end of the platform 3. The mast 6 is in three sections 8, 9, 10 moved relative to each other by a ram 11, or by a cable (Fig. 5 (not shown). An auxiliary jib 15 is pivoted by a cable 16. A cable extending from the tip of the main jib via the auxiliary jib to an anchorage on the platform may be provided to swing the jib 13 away from the mast when this is extended, Fig. 6 (not shown).
