Abstract

1,038,327. Bottle closures. MAUSER KOMM GES. Jan. 14, 1965 [June 19, 1964], No. 1766/65. Heading B8T. A plastics closure device for a box or bottle consists of a cover 1 permanently hinged to an annular collar 2 and a securing ring 3 connected to the cover, such that the cover engages in the top of the collar 2 thereby closing the neck 8 of the box, &c. and is locked in position by the securing ring 3 which engages in the bottom of the collar 2. Before placing the device on the neck 8 of the box or bottle, the cover 1 is swung about a hinge band 4 and then clamped to the collar 2. The securing ring 3 is then swung about a sealing band 5 and the frusto-conically shaped portion 9 of the ring 3 engages with a similarly shaped portion in the base of the collar 2. When placed on the box, &c. neck 8 the collar 2 engages behind an annular projection 10 on the neck. The securing ring 3 is clamped between the collar 2 and the supporting surface 11 of the neck 8. An annular surface 12 provides a stepless transition from the closure device to the neck 8. To release the cover 1, gripping tongues 6 on the cover edge are pulled upwards, thereby rupturing the sealing band 5 at its weakest point 7.
