Abstract

1,038,134. Pipe joints. STEWART & LLOYDS Ltd. May 16, 1963 [May 18, 1962], No. 19199/62. Heading F2G. A resiliently-compressible ring 5 of circular cross-section is disposed in an annular recess 7A of semicircular cross-section and partially projects therefrom and is compressed by a spigot 10 to maintain the ring in sealing engagement with the socket and to deform the projecting portion thereof so that the ring material is forced into annular clearances at the sides of the recess to seal the clearances. The lining 4 of the pipe 2 extends over the shoulder 9 and is abutted by the end of the spigot.
