Abstract

1,035,154. Spiked plates. UNITED STATES STEEL CORPORATION. Aug. 18, 1964 [Aug. 23, 1963], No. 33735/64. Heading F2H. [Also in Division E1] A building panel comprises a rectangular frame of Z-section steel members 11, Fig. 7 (not shown), secured together by screws 16, one flange of each member 11 having stuck-out spikes 17 on which is impaled a fibreboard sheet 19. Each spike has a stiffening groove and a bent tip, Figs. 5, 6 (not shown). The impaling may be effected in a press, the spikes being thereby bent over, Fig. 4 (not shown). The sheet 19 may have a metal cladding sheet 20 adhered thereon. Sheets 19a of thermal insulation may be attached to or inserted within the frame, and a sheet 22 of gypsum board may be adhesively applied to the sheet 19a or to the plain flanges of the frame. The outer sheets of the panel may be modified for use as flooring or roofing.
