Abstract

1,147,911. Rollers for belt conveyers. MINING ENG. CO. (MECO) Ltd. 20 March, 1968 [21 March, 1967], No. 13162/67. Heading B8A. [Also in Division F2] A bearing assembly for a belt conveyer idler roller comprises a bearing housing 11, a housing cap 14 and a seal housing 15. The seal housing, which is a press fit on a stationary spindle 13, carries a felt or like washer 23 and has an extension 24 received in an axial opening 21 in the cap 14. Grease or other lubricant is contained within annular spaces 25, 27, 28 but additional lubrication may be provided from a grease nipple provided at the outer end of the spindle and connected to a radial port or ports in the spindle by an axial passage. The cap 14 is welded to the housing 11 which is itself welded to a steel shell 10. The felt washer may be secured to the cap 14 and be in rubbing engagement with the seal housing 15.
