Abstract

1,032,416. Switchgear structures. MERZ & McLELLAN SERVICES Ltd. Aug. 12, 1963 [Aug. 13, 1962; May 15, 1963], Nos. 30997/62 and 19357/63. Heading H2B. In a switchgear system of the monophase type described in Specification 1,032,415, i.e. in which the switchgear of each phase is arranged in a layer, such a floor of a building, separated from the layers associated respectively with the other phases, the bus-bar of each phase is arranged in the form of a ring (a closed figure divided into sections by isolators) or a mesh (a closed figure divided into sections by isolators and circuit breakers). In the embodiment of Fig. 1 the ring bus-bar 10 is divided into eight sections by isolators 11-14 each section being connectable through circuit breakers 15-18 and further isolators 23 to outlet terminals 25 which can also be interconnected by further isolators 28. In the arrangement of Fig. 4 the mesh bus-bar is divided into six sections by breakers 40-45 each section being further subdivided by isolators 53 each side of isolators 53 being connectable through further isolators 57, 58 to outlets 61. In the arrangement of Fig. 7 (not shown) the four mesh bus-bar sections are subdivided by two isolators 71, 77 whose junction is connectable through further isolators 84, 85 either to outlets 82 or to transformers 91. In the arrangement of Fig. 8 (not shown) the mesh comprises four square arrays of isolators 97, 99, 100, 101 interconnected by circuit breakers 95, 96 and connected to outlets 104, 105.
