Abstract
1,031,623. Control of A.C. motors. DANFOSS A./S. Feb. 4, 1965 [Feb. 5, 1964], No, 4975/65. Heading H2J. [Also in Division G1] Control apparatus for a burner system which includes a single-phase fuel-feed motor comprises photo-electric switch means responsive to the burner flame and arranged in the circuit of the start winding of the motor. Fig. 2 shows the A.C. supply UO connected through the contacts 9 of relay 11 to thermostat 5. When the thermostat closes the supply is connected to the " run " winding 3 of the fuel-feed motor 2, to the ignition system 7, 8 and to a circuit in series with the start winding 4 of the motor. This circuit has two parallel branches, one comprising resistor 12 and photo-resistor 6 and the other thermal relay 11 and a pair of solid-state switches 14, 15. The mid-point of the switches is connected to the junction point of the resistors. With no flame and the thermostat closed the potential across switch 15 causes it to conduct, this increases the potential across 14 which also conducts. This will occur in each half-cycle energizing the winding 4 and also the heater winding of relay 11. If the burner lights the photo-resistor 6 has a resistance approximately equal to that of resistor 12. It is arranged that the potential difference across the switches 14 and 15 is then inadequate for either to close, the relay and starter winding then pass negligible current. In the event of flame failure or the flame failing to appear relay 11 operates after a suitable delay and cuts off the supply from the ignition and both motor windings. Warning lamp 10 is lit by a circuit through the back contact.
