Abstract

1,273,279. Automatic control systems, electric. ROBERTSHAW CONTROLS CO. Nov. 11, 1969 [Nov. 12, 1968], No. 55140/69. Heading G3R. In a system where it is essential to ensure air is circulated in heat exchange relationship with a plurality of electrical environmental change elements, e.g. heaters, by means of a fan, a fan control trigger circuit is inductively coupled with the elements to ensure energization of the fan upon energization of any of the elements. A thermostat 83, 84 energizes a heater 11, through a thermal bi-metal switch 61 and a second thermal switch bi-metal 53. After a determined time the second thermal switch contacts 23 are closed thus energizing a heater 13 through a third thermal switch bi-metal et seq. Each heater power supply lead e.g. 85 is passed through a rectangular core 33 having a winding 35 connected to fire a thyristor or triac 37 which energizes a relay 131, 133 providing a supply to fan motor 41. The relay coil has a free wheeling diode 141 or in an alternative arrangement, Fig. 2 (not shown), a shunting resistor (152). Energization of any of the heaters will provide a triggering signal to the thyristor and hence ensure energization of the fan motor.
