Abstract

1,031,059. Sealing filled bags. BELL ENGINEERING (SLOUGH) Ltd. April 12, 1965 [Jan. 12, 1964], No. 49090/63. Heading B8C. [Also in Division B5] A machine for heat sealing filled packages comprises a first endless conveyer belt 2 to support the filled part of the packages and two further spaced conveyers 9, 10 extending opposite one another adjacent and parallel with the conveyer 2 to grip open marginal parts of the package and guide them past a heat sealing element 17. The conveyer 2 is mounted on rollers 5, the lower of which is driven by a belt 7 and a pulley 8 from a gear-box. The axes of the rollers 5 are inclined upwardly and rearwardly at an angle of approximately 10 degrees to the horizontal. Tensioning rollers 6 are provided. The conveyers 9, 10 are driven at the same linear speed as the conveyer 2 and comprise tapes 11, 12 and 14, 15, respectively. The element 17 comprises a heated wire 18 to simultaneously seal and trim the margins of the packages. A circuit for the wire 18 is described, Fig. 3 (not shown).
