Abstract

A composite material in film form for use in electrical apparatus comprises particles of an electrically conducting material in an insulating matrix of synthetic plastic, the size of the particles not exceeding one quarter of the thickness of the film nor being greater than 0.015 mm. and the particles being present in such an amount that there is substantially no contact of the particles with one another. Specified synthetic plastics are polyethylene terephthalate, polyethylene, polypropylene, polycarbonate and polytetrafluorethylene. Specified conductive materials are carbon black, graphite, aluminium, zinc, copper and iron.
