Abstract

1,144,325. Electric heating. DOW CHEMICAL CO. 5 April, 1966 [8 April, 1965; 3 June, 1965], No. 15085/66. Heading H5H. [Also in Divisions B2, C3 and E1] A heating element comprises a base material having on at least one surface thereof a thin, electrically conductive, heat-producing film obtained by coating the base material with a composition comprising a mixture of from 5 to 50 per cent by weight (calculated on a dry basis) of a heat-stable latex and from 95 to 50 per cent by weight of a finely divided calcined petroleum coke, and curing the latex to an adherent continuous film containing the coke particles uniformly distributed therein, the coating being connected with a suitable source for electricity.
